How often should I fertilize my yard?
In able to see maximum results from a fertilization treatment, your lawn should receive 8 applications per year. Fertilizing your yard more often allows us to “spoon feed” your yard throughout the year and apply more micronutrients. This provides for more even growing and greening. This method also provides the best results for your yard not pushing too much top growth at once and stressing out the grass during the summer heat. A healthy lawn starts at the roots. If each treatment is strategically applied on a 12 month term, the ending results will be a greener, healthier yard season after season.

Why aren't my flowers blooming like my neighbors?
There are several factors which contribute to the growth of seasonal color and outdoor plants. Some of which include soil conditions, water, sun, and fertilizer. Fertilizer is the easiest factor to control and can be done by utilizing a fertilizer that is rich in all essential elements including nitrogen and oxygen. The other three are more dependent on you! Flowers and outdoor plants require an abundant watering and sunlight source. Watering, soil types and sunlight should be considered according with each species requirements. All these factors should be carefully considered when deciding on new landscaping.

How often should I water my lawn?
In able to determine your lawns watering frequency requirements, you should first monitor your lawn and grass blades. When the blades begin to fold in half and have a grayish tint, it is time to water. The less water you use, the more your roots will reach out and the stronger they will become which result in a resistance to disease, insect infestation and drought. The more water used the less the plants have to grow roots
to survive resulting in weaker roots, more weeds, fungi, insects and higher water bills. Bottom line, watering can only be determined on a case by case basis.
Added note for 2007 – we may be required to continue on one day a week watering in Collin County this year. You may water your yard multiple times on that day but water only during the required times and monitor runoff. If you see runoff on your street or walks give the yard a break and come back to it later after it has had time to absorb the previous watering. Letting your water run off into the street is a waste of your money and of this resource. |
Why does my yard look yellow?
If your yard is lacking essential nutrients, it will turn yellow and result in an unhealthy appearance. For this reason, it is extremely important your lawn receive a fertilizing feeding approximately every 5-7 weeks during the growing season.
|
How often should my lawn be mowed?
Mowing of your lawn should be done on a weekly schedule during the spring, summer and fall months in able to maintain health and integrity. Mowing the lawn when the lawn has overgrown promotes disease and damage to your turf. During the dormant months of the winter, your lawn should be mowed only as needed.

Why do I need a professional lawn maintenance company?
Although it is much cheaper to maintain your lawn yourself, hiring a professional lawn maintenance company such as Lawn Clips and Landscape ensures that your lawn is not only receiving continual care, but the proper amounts of care. We are also very safety cautious and we know what to use to keep your family safe. For example, we never use 2-4-D broadleaf herbicide.
|
What is the best time of the day to water my yard?
Due to the fact that evaporation is most prevalent during the afternoon hours, our lawn maintenance specialists at Lawn Clips and Landscape recommend watering during the early morning hours of 5:00am- 10:00am or as required by local ordinances. Watering in the evening can promote fungus/disease when the evenings are cool.
|
What time of year is best for sodding?
We recommend laying sod in the early spring or late summer just as it begins to cool off. Sod can be laid down just about year around, but damage from excessive heat and cold could occur. Also you must take into account that the new sod must remain moist if not slightly wet for approximately 2 weeks for the roots to take.

Lawn Clips and Landscape will take the hassle out of outdoor cleanup and allow you to spend time indoors decorating for the holidays.
